A Benenden Health Survey (2017) found that ‘Modern day pressures, combined with ‘always connected’ lifestyles, make stress, anxiety and other mental health issues more prevalent today. The survey revealed that the majority of employees (70%) have suffered with a condition related to mental health at some point in their lives.
The World Health Organisation stated in May 2019 that negative work environments can lead to both physical and mental health problems, and aggravate any existing issues an employee has.

Recent research by Group Risk Development (GRiD) (May 2020) found the following: Over four-fifths (81%) of employers believe it’s good for business to look after the mental wellbeing of its workforce and, just under half (48%) feel that supporting employee wellbeing demonstrates care for employees, producing loyalty and engagement.
41% cited an increase in productivity a positive outcome, while 40% said it can decrease the number and length of absences.
Furthermore, just over a third (38%) believe that it is integral to improve employee culture, while over one in four (28%) helps them to differentiate them from competitors, helping recruitment and retention.

MHFA England are the largest provider of Mental Health First Aid training in the UK and Europe, with over ten years of experience supporting businesses to create and sustain healthier workplaces.
